Winning Time Season 1 Episode 1: Recap
Winning Time Season 1 Episode 1, It took viewers in 1979, as businessman Jerry Buss decided to enter the sports club ownership business by buying the most famous basketball team, the Los Angeles Lakers. Despite its popularity, the group has not been as successful as it was decades ago.
However, the current owner of the group, Jack Kent Cooke, is forced to sell the club to pay for his divorce settlement. The bus decides to buy a group but has to budget for cash. However, Buss does not have the necessary funds and has to go around his property to complete the shortage. However, Buss is signing a contract.
Buss’ daughter, Jeanie, wishes to join Buss to help manage the team, and she reluctantly agrees. The NBA framework is coming, and Buss has to work with an angry but successful team coach, Jerry West, to finalize the selection. Buss has his eyes fixed on the rookie, Earvin “Magic” Johnson Jr., who recently won the State Cup.
However, West remains uncertain and says the team already has one of the best scorers in the league in the form of Norm Nixon. However, Buss brings Johnson and his father to Los Angeles to discuss a possible contract. However, the deal ends when Johnson wants an astrologer to sign with the Lakers.
Buss plans for cash to complete the deal by taking out a loan from his ex-wife, but Cooke has little idea of selling the club. That way, he plans to ask for all this money so that Buss will be forced to withdraw from the agreement. Cooke’s accountant, Claire Rothman, advised Buss about Cooke’s plans. Buss roams the scene using Cooke’s divorce to win and finalize the deal.
Meanwhile, Johnson is on his way to a party where he meets Norm Nixon. They play a friendly basketball game, and Nixon disappoints Johnson. Johnson loses faith in his abilities and wonders whether he should wait before becoming a champion.
