‘Summerland’ is a British romance movie set in World War II. It focuses on Alice Lamb, a solitary writer living in a small house on the beach in Kent. As a result of the ongoing war, she is being asked to care for a boy named Frank, who was released from London. Although he is reluctant, she invites her in and gives her a place to stay and food during difficult times.
As Alice’s relationship with Frank grows, she remembers her relationship with Vera. Since it was impossible to have children with Alice, Vera broke up with him because she wanted to be a mother. The beautiful East Sussex region has served as an ideal location for the recording of ‘Summerland.’ One of the most prominent areas within the region used for production is the town of Seaford. Scenes set up at Alice’s home were shot at Coastguard Cottages, Cuckmere Haven. One can even see the Seven Sister Cliffs in the movie.

Seaford Head was used to create a scene frame where Alice took Frank to look over the ocean in the Ramsgate Cliffs and possibly see floating islands. The rocky sea known as the Birling Gap is a popular Seaford site, used to shoot a few sequences for this seasonal drama.
Another East Sussex beach town featured in the film is Hastings. The Marina beachfront Marina St Leonards is one of the places from the movie. The place where Alice rescues Frank from the icy waters of the English Channel has shot off the shores of Hastings. A small town called Firle in the Lewes district is where the shop stalls in the Village were exhibited.

The Brighton Railway Station on Queens Road in Brighton has been transformed into an explosive atmosphere since the 1940s. The scenes captured on the converted channel include actors dressed according to time; they appear in the film as police, soldiers, housewives, children, and flight attendants. The elements were added to the brand authenticity and included a poster of the 1939 film Laurence Olivier. Some of you can see Herstmonceux Castle in Hailsham in a few shots.
With ‘Summerland’ set up in Kent, the production team made use of locally available facilities. Historic Dockyard Chatham is a major movie production facility. The exterior of Sail and Color Loft, Church Lane, and Ropery in Chatham was used to showcase the streets of East London during the Blitz.
The Captain’s House on Officer’s Terrace, Main Road, Chatham, was transformed to show a house destroyed by a bomb blast. On the other hand, the Fitted Rigging House cells in Anchor Wharf are used to display shelters for air raids. Another prominent filming site in Kent is Dover Castle in Dover, where foreign photography was taken.
‘Summerland’ was also shot in London, the capital of England and the United Kingdom. The south side of the Rotherhithe Tunnel in East London serves as the London tunnel for the film.
