‘Shining Girls’ was shot in Chicago, a densely populated city in the state of Illinois. Located on the shores of Lake Michigan, Windy City is known for its outstanding influence on visual arts, theater, music, books, and food.
So, a healthy big city makes for an amazing recording studio. The main photography of the first season of the series began in May 2021 and ended in October 2021.

Pictures of the series capture all of the city’s details, including the Chicago Transit Authority’s L-trains (or high-rise trains) or wooden balconies of three-story houses. You can see some of the city’s attractions, especially the Adler Planetarium at 1300 South DuSable Lake Shore Drive. A few theaters may have been lensed at the Chicago Union Station, in the Uptown Theater, and in the old Chicago Public Library building, now known as the Chicago Cultural Center.
In a few photos, we see the old Chicago Sun-Times building. But since a landmark on Wabash Avenue was demolished in 2005, a team of producers may have used camera tactics to recreate the Chi-Town city atmosphere for a mysterious period drama.

While shooting in a city like Toronto or in the backyard of a LA studio is a possibility, the band felt that filming in Chicago could be the best way forward. Creator and athlete Luisa told the Chicago Sun-Times, “The potential in your area is amazing.” He added, “I did not realize how lucky we were to get there. The roles that really capture the concept of Chicago, I feel like they have brought a lot to it. And they add a lot of color and clarity that makes the show feel more real … Everyone was eager to make the show as beautiful as possible and to grind it really well. ”
Therefore, there is no doubt that what Chicago offers to filmmakers is incomparable. Apart from ‘Shining Girls,’ there are several other films and TV shows filmed in the city.
