‘Rise’ is a sports drama based on the inspiring journey of the three brothers ‘to rise to success within the NBA (National Basketball Association). The story revolves around the Antetokounmpo family, especially the three siblings, as they move to a new country to improve their lives. Parents – Vera and Charles Antetokounmpo – are struggling to support themselves and their five children as they all work together to sell souvenirs to visitors in the new town.
Suddenly, the doorbell rang, and the Antetokounmpo brothers jumped on it as they hit the basketball courts and discovered their birthdays. Although inexperienced in sports, they reached out to the stars by pursuing their NBA dreams with the help of a talented agent.

Where Was Rise Movie Filmed?
‘Rise’ was recorded in Greece and the United States, mainly in Athens and the states of Wisconsin and New York. The main filming of the basketball-focused movie began in May 2021 under the production title ‘Greek Freak’ and wrapped up in August of that year.
With most of the news series in Greece, the production team has chosen the same European country to record many important scenes and, thus, adding an element of historical film authenticity.

Several key sections of ‘Rise’ were lensed in Athens, the capital and largest city in Greece. A crew of filmmakers traveled through the capital to get proper photographs of the historical film. In particular, they set up camp in Monastiraki Square, located in the Monastiraki area, to capture important scenes.

During the filming, many shops and restaurants closed their doors to their customers. In addition, the area around the neighborhood was protected by barriers that prevented fans from entering the film set.

By filming a series of sports films, the cast and crew traveled to Milwaukee, a bustling city in the state of Wisconsin. Officially known as Milwaukee City, it is considered one of the most ethnically diverse cities and cultures in the country.

Additional parts of ‘Rise’ were taken from Brooklyn, New York City district in New York state. Neighboring areas in the region are known for their racial variability.
