‘Star Trek: Strange New Worlds’ adds another feather to the living space of the ‘Star Trek. Developed by Akiva Goldsman, Alex Kurtzman, and Jenny Lumet, the science fiction series follows Captain Christopher Pike and the U.S. motley team. Businesses as they embark on a detailed intergalactic journey, charting the edges of the universe. Based on the characters and the original play imagined by Gene Roddenberry, the show serves as a precursor to the real series and preserves the nature of the episode.
After its release on Paramount +, the series gained much praise, due to its attractive appearance and adherence to the original charm. Much of the story takes place in the strange and futuristic cities, the offices of the Federation Starfleet, and in distant galaxies and planets, with scenes intended for a wide range of views. Star Trek Strange New Worlds Tv Series Filming Locations
‘Star Trek: Strange New Worlds’ is being recorded in the US and Canada, especially in Ontario and New Mexico. The main filming of the first season began in February 2021 and ended on July 24, 2021. However, further filming of the film took place in late 2021. The second season of photography began in February 2022 and ended in June of the same year. Both seasons 1 and 2 seemed to be photographed under the working title ‘Lily and Isaac.’
Production began at the time of the Covid-19 limits when the Enterprise set was not fully built. The team overcame this disaster by recording the pilot in two parts – in the early days of the production schedule and towards the end of season 1 production. Magdalena Górka (‘Doom Patrol,’ ‘You Get Me’) and Glen Keenan (‘Star Trek: Discovery,’ ‘Lucifer’) camera door. Meanwhile, Jonathan Lee, artistic director of ‘Stealth’ and ‘XXX,’ joined the team as a production designer.
Ontario
The ‘Star Trek: Strange New Worlds’ production team headed to Toronto to record several foreign sequences. Due to its unique location in Lake Ontario and the common urban landscape, Toronto has become one of the world’s largest production facilities, gaining the moniker ‘Hollywood of the North.’ Located at 100 Queens Park in downtown Toronto, it is Canada’s largest museum of historical and cultural artifacts. The area outside the museum, most notably Bloor Street West, is where several of season 2 scenes were shot.

The recording of the second season also continued on many other streets in the city. In March 2022, actors and staff set off for Finance Province, a downtown business district. Authorities cooperated with the production team by shutting down cars on Bay Street, Jordan Street, and Wellington Street.
The recording also took place on Yonge Street, the central road connecting Lake Simcoe and Queens Quay. Many scenes are filmed in the area, especially in the iconic Yonge-Dundas Square. Located on Yonge Street and Dundas Street East in the city of Toronto, it is a living community with large appeal signs and non-illuminated signs. At the same time, actors and staff were seen filming a few segments near the CF Toronto Eaton Center, a popular shopping mall at 220 Yonge Street.

Important filming took place in a studio in Mississauga, Canada’s largest city near Lake Ontario, just 28 miles [28 km] southwest of Toronto. While the cast and crew are the main lenses of the outdoor and surrounding contexts in Toronto, many indoor scenes of ‘Star Trek: Strange New Worlds’ are filmed within the comfort of the studio.

CBS Stages Canada, a production facility named CBS 1850 Matheson Boulevard East in Mississauga, assists the recording unit. Since its inception in 2019, the frequently used production facility has been busy providing in-house products, such as Star Trek: Discovery and ‘In The Dark.’ We are equipped with six audio channels, production offices, and auxiliary services. and added to Ontario’s growing film industry.
New Mexico
While most of the recording takes place in Ontario, the production team with a space theme is not limited to the north. For the purpose of recording, the actors and staff once went out of their comfort zone to visit New Mexico. According to reports, the second recording unit could oversee the filming of the film in Mexico, allowing the first unit to continue recording simultaneously in the studio.

As per the announcement of the New Mexico Film Office, the team is using an unused New Mexico site for viewing results. The southern region is home to an amazing variety of landscapes, from mountains and forests to dunes. By using these background images and applying AR “virtual set” technology to the wall, the ‘Star Trek: Strange New Worlds’ team creates a credible atmosphere within the studio.
