Watcher 2022 is an American Thriller, Horror movie written and directed by Chloe Okuno based on Zack Ford’s original screen. After a woman moves with her husband to Bucharest, separated by language barriers, she begins to suspect that a man looking at her in an apartment across the street may be a murderous killer who has been beheading women throughout the city.
That is what happened to “Watcher,” when Julia (Maika Monroe), an American actress, moved to Bucharest, Romania, with her husband, Francis, after being promoted to a new position. As Francis keeps busy at work, Julia faces a dilemma as she does not understand the countries or languages that people speak.
American Julia moves to Bucharest with her husband, Francis, who works as a salesman there. Francis, a Romanian mother, speaks the language fluently, but Julia does not know it. The couple moved into a building with a large window frame. Suddenly Julia sees a man coming out of a window from a building across the street. While Francis works long hours, Julia tries to get used to the city and begins to learn Romanian. However, she is still terrified because of the man in the window who sees her every day.
Julia’s fears are heightened when she learns of a murderer, dubbed the “Spider” by the local media, who beheaded a young woman. One day as she was walking through the city, Julia heard that a man was following her. She enters the theater trying to escape, but the man follows her inside and sits right behind her. Terrified, Julia leaves the theater and goes to a nearby market, where a man also follows her.
She managed to escape in the background. That night, Francis finds Julia puzzled by the incident, and, with her suggestion, they visit the market to review security photos. They found pictures of the man and Julia in the store, but Francis is not sure he was spying on Julia.
Julia finds comfort in her neighbor, Irina. While the two are drinking together, Cristian, Irina’s ex-boyfriend, knocks on her door, but she chases him away. Irina shows Julia the gun that Cristian kept to protect her cupboard on her coffee table. Later that night, Julia returns to her house and looks out the window at the man.
She waved, then waved. Convinced that the man in the window was the man following her, Julia called the police. Francis and an officer go to a nearby building to talk to the man, who they discover is Daniel Weber.
One day, Julia followed Daniel to town, eventually arriving at a strip club, where he worked as a caregiver. Irina, a dancer at the club, sees Julia and sets her aside. Julia asks Irina about Daniel, but Irina knows nothing about him. Later that night, Julia hears a commotion in Irina’s house. She knocks repeatedly but is not answered. The landlord opens the house, but they do not find Irina’s signs. Francis is impatient with Julia, believing that her fears are being addressed, and pointing to the fact that the “Spider” has apparently been caught.
The next day, Cristian comes looking for Irina. Julia tells him that Irina has not returned home and asks him to accompany her to face Daniel in his building. Cristian agrees, but no one opens the door. As Cristian leaves, Julia musters up the courage to knock on the door, but the old man answers. Later that night, when Francis was at home, a policeman arrived at their house accompanied by Daniel, who accused Julia of stalking him. Julia shakes Daniel’s hand reluctantly, as the police chase the incident away so there can be some misunderstanding.
Julia goes with Francis to a company party. During a conversation in Romanian, Julia admits that Francis made jokes about her fears for his co-workers. She angrily leaves the party and gets on the train, where she sees Daniel in an empty car.
When he arrives and tries to explain why she is living a single, unhappy life caring for her father — Julia sees what appears to be a cut-out frame in her shopping bag. Julia quickly gets off the train and returns to the house where she started packing her things. She is disturbed by the sound of music playing in Irina’s house. When she went to investigate, she found Irina’s headless body, before Daniel threw her in a plastic bag.
When Julia wakes up, Daniel tells them how he killed Irina, and that he hid her body in the room when Julia and the landlord entered the house. Julia hears Francis enter their nearby apartment, but when she tries to scream, Daniel cuts off the side of her throat. Julia tries to crawl to Irina’s coffee table to pull out a gun, but she stops.
Daniel lies next to her, watching as she appears to faint. Francis calls Julia’s cell phone, and she can’t hear him crying inside Irina’s house. He enters the hallway and sees Daniel coming out. Francis starts to approach him, but before he can get to her, Julia — who pretends to be dead — shoots Daniel several times, killing him. Julia walks out of Irina’s house, covered in blood, and looks at Francis.
‘Watcher’ Ending Explained: Is Julia Dead?
Daniel was overjoyed to discover that there was a wealthy man in the area who later became aware of who he was and where he lived. When he abducted Julia from Irina’s house, the first thing he told Julia was that on the night of Irina’s attack, she screamed, and only Julia could hear her screaming. She invited everyone into Irina’s apartment, and for a while, Daniel believed that Julia would see him again as she had often seen her in the crowd, but before she could do so, all the neighbors decided to return to their rooms without concern. people living near them.
At the end of the movie, it was Julia who shouted for help, but no one came to her. Daniel slit her throat to stop screaming. Julia crawled to the table where Irina had kept her ex-boyfriend’s gun, but before she could grab it, she fainted. She lost a lot of blood, and Daniel believed she was dead, so without delay, he decided to leave the house.
At that moment, Francis returned to his company. Earlier, at the same party, Julia and Francis had an argument. Francis regretted making fun of Julia’s situation in front of his colleagues and wanted to apologize. In the bedroom, he saw Julia’s bag and tried to call her. He heard Julia’s phone ring at Irina’s house, and as soon as he went out to look, he saw Daniel coming out of Irina’s house.
The two men looked at each other, and before Daniel could flee, Julia shot Daniel in the back and killed him instantly. Therefore, although Julia lost a lot of blood, she did not die as a result of the attack. She pulled out a gun from the table and killed a monster that was killing innocent girls in Bucharest. As Julia, bathed in blood, walked out of Irina’s house, she looked at Francis, perhaps trying to say, “I see, I told you.”
The “Watcher” keeps Julia’s face without further ado. However, we can only assume that after this tragic event, Julia will probably return to America and break up her marriage to a man who did not believe her. She may not want to spend her life with Francis, who made fun of her in front of her colleagues and made Julia’s mental health an office joke. We do not know what she will do when she returns to her homeland, as she said he is still considering her options, but I am sure she will be a great investigator.
