Two Summers Season 1: Recap
In 1992, friends gathered at Didier’s father’s house. Along with Peter, Stef, and Didier, there are Romée (An Miller in 2022 and Marieke Anthoni in 1992), Sofie (Inge Paulussen in 2022 and Louise Bergez in 1992), Saskia (Ruth Becquart in 2022 and Tine Roggeman in 199) and Mark (Felix Meyer). They were soon joined by Peter Luk’s brother (Kevin Janssens in 2022 and Tijmen Govaerts in 1992), a cancer survivor.
One night, after taking some alcohol and pills, Mark, Peter, Stef, and Didier took Sofie to a room. Stef records the whole incident with Luke’s camera. The next morning, Peter destroys the video, believing the video to be from last night. Not long ago, Mark was killed when a house caught fire due to an electric fire.
In 2022, Peter married Romée, who is now a successful businesswoman in technology. They live in Silicon Valley, California. Didier and Sofie are also married and have two children together. Luk and Saskia are a divorced couple. They have a son with special needs, Jens. The first is currently in a relationship with a very young woman, Lia (Sanne-Samina Hanssen). Meanwhile, Stef works as a secretary for the Belgian government.
As friends gather on a remote island, layers of truth begin to unravel. Luk blamed Mark’s death when it was not his fault. He evidently became furious after Mark’s verbal abuse and closed the door to the man’s room. Luk thinks that’s why Mark can’t get out of his room when the fire starts. However, as Peter tells him, according to the autopsy, Mark died in bed; he never came to the doors.
Lia had previously been a sex offender. About ten years earlier, Didier had been one of her clients. At this point, Didier and Sofie were having problems. In 2022, they met immediately, and both decided to keep it a secret at first. But like everything else on the show, the truth is out there.
Peter discovers that the fighter must be one of the people on the island with him. He tells Stef and Didier because they were the ones who had him in that room that night 30 years earlier. Sofie was unconscious during the whole incident, and the three men thought she could not remember. However, it was revealed that Sofie had a clip on her phone. In episode 3, the video suddenly starts playing on the living room TV in the middle of the night. Peter hurries off to close it, but Romée sees it. The next day, she says she is divorcing Peter.
It also turns out that Jens is Peter’s child. On the night of the incident, Saskia and Luk met in a separate room for the first time. She had previously been in love with Peter. Although she told Peter that her time was late, she later said that it was a lie after Peter said that abortion would be the best option. By 2022, Saskia is growing near Stef.
Apart from the two main parts of the narrative in 1992 and 2022, there is a third that occurs two months after the events on the island. Onderzoeksrechter Salima Mitonga is trying to determine if the crime was committed. At the end of the season, it was finally revealed who the person who posted the video was, and another tragedy occurred. Afterward, the rest of the friends were shocked and shocked.
Two Summers Ending, Explained: What Happened At The End of the Season?
Sofie was raped that night in 1992. She was about to faint from alcohol and pills when Mark, Peter, Stef, and Didier took him upstairs. Stef had Luke’s camera, and he filmed the whole incident. He and Didier tried to convince the other two boys to leave Sofie alone, but they did not listen. However, because of drugs and alcohol abuse, Peter realized what he was doing and stopped. He pretends there is an entrance when there is none. Not so with Mark, who raped Sofie almost unconsciously until Didier and Peter intervened.
In 2022, when Peter confronted the truth, he repeatedly tried to justify his behavior by saying that there was no intrusion, never admitting that he, Stef, and Didier were involved in gang rape. Sofie later tells Salima that she knows what happened to her, but she doesn’t really remember. She did not tell anyone and began to feel embarrassed. She felt that it was her fault.
Although Peter, Stef, and Didier thought they had destroyed the videotape, Luk switched it on his camera and inserted another tape without knowing the contents of the original. He found out about it years later and told Lia. It was then that he realized that Peter was Jens’ biological father and decided to criticize his older brother. But he did not go through with it. Lia later showed Sofie a video, and later asked Romée for advice. Saskia was then taken into a cage. The four women then fixed everything, but Romée came up with the whole plan.
All the main characters save Sofia and Lia are cruel, self-centered, and cruel. Romée doesn’t care so much about Sofie. It is suggested that she had some interest in what happened in 1992. Everything that happens on the island is part of Romée’s twisted game, which also uses situations to harass her husband and break up with him.
Saskia tries to distance herself from what they used to do to men in order to improve her relationship with Stef. She has no problem abandoning her friends for personal gain. As for the men, they had many opportunities to defend themselves but did not succeed.
Stephen is dead. He shot himself after Romée allegedly that she has sent the clip to the media. Saskia goes to his room to assure her that Romée is lying, but he is not there. A gunshot is heard. Peter finds Stef’s body lying on the beach. Authorities were then briefly informed. Two months later, Salima informs Romée and three other women that they will be notified in writing whether there will be a criminal case over Stef’s death.
We can only see Sofie’s reaction. She appears to be crying after receiving the letter, but she and Didier also appear to be happy. Therefore, we can conclude that there will be no criminal prosecution. Earlier, Sofie told Salima he did not want to blame her for what had happened to her 30 years ago. The tears in her eyes in the final scene are a relief.
