In Thirty-Nine Season 1 Episode 2, So far we have seen that Cha MI Jo, Chan Young, and Jang Joohee met when they were 18 years old. Since then they have kept their tradition of eating tteokbokki. When they first started this practice they never thought they would do it 20 years later. Now in their 40’s, they spend most of their time living together and spending their hard-earned money on honey and massage.
It is difficult for people to understand but they are clear about their wedding plans. Since they do not plan to get married soon they avoid events such as weddings and baby showers. However, they attend funerals because of their philosophy that death is inevitable.
Mi Jo is a well-known dermatologist and clinical director of Gangnam. She is a free soul who does not hold on to obligations and rules. When Chan Mi Hyun talks to him about taking his place as director, Mi Jo does not seem to be moved by the decision.
Instead, she says she will take a year’s leave to study abroad. This does not please Mi Hyun and she scares Mi Jo into telling her father about the loan she took from her sister to open a clinic. Even then without hesitation, Mi Jo tells her sister to keep her clinic and pay her every month.
