The Summer I Turned Pretty Season 1: Synopsis
‘The Summer I Turned Pretty’ follows Belly Conklin’s story. At the age of sixteen, she hopes to start her love affair with Conrad Fisher this summer. However, when she arrives at the beach house, where the Belly and Conrad families spend the summer together, she discovers that Conrad has changed. It is not his usual sweetness. Instead, he isolates himself and is indifferent, and, at times, he is rude. After pressuring him for so long, Belly decides to move on. That’s where she finds Cam. But things get worse when Conrad’s brother, Jeremiah, tells her that he wants more of their friendship. All this time, Belly is still in love with Conrad.
Meanwhile, Susannah, Conrad’s mother, has convinced Belly to take part in the first ball. It opens up to the community of Cousins Beach, something she has been neglected so far. As she meets new people and makes new friends, she learns more about the way Conrad and Jeremiah interact with other people. As Belly wanders through these changes, her mother, Laurel, struggles with her new novel and meets a writer who builds a relationship with her. Belly’s brother, Steven, falls in love with a wealthy girl named Shayla, but a brief walk with Taylor, Belly’s best friend, gets him into a lot of trouble.
Susannah, who has been diagnosed with cancer, is trying to make this last resort ideal, but the deteriorating relationship with her husband threatens to ruin everything. Like deb day football and the end of the summer inches nearby, everyone tries to shut down their favorite things. But when Susannah’s secret is revealed, everything goes well, and Belly realizes that she has been focusing on the wrong things. With both Jeremiah and Conrad arguing over her, she has to decide who she will stay with before the end of the summer and leave Cousins Beach, not to return next year.
The Summer I Turned Pretty Season 1 Ending Explained: What Happened At The End of the Season?
Belly enters the summer hoping to find love with Conrad. Feeling that Conrad does not see her as such, she decides to let go of her crush and move on. At the end of the summer, three boys approached her. When she breaks up with Cam, she finds herself in the middle of Conrad’s love affair with Jeremiah. At the end of the season, however, we see her with Conrad.
Although Belly has feelings for Conrad, she decided not to wait for him if he would not express his love for her completely. When she kisses Jeremiah and chooses to be with him, she begins to reject all of Conrad’s attempts. She confirms that Conrad knows she has Jeremiah now, and whether he will win a volleyball tournament with her or get her muffins in the morning, she will never run back in his hands.
Later, when she finds out about Susannah’s illness, she understands why Conrad has been playing so far all summer. She empathizes with her, but when she sees that he needs someone he can count on to cope with her grief, she makes it clear that she should not be that person.
She knows the problems that will result from her relationship with Jeremiah, and if Conrad continues to be a distant relative, it will not be good for anyone to continue to indulge in Conrad. She informs her that he can no longer take her lightly. If he wants to be with her, he has to be fully committed.
It turned out that Conrad also wanted to dedicate himself to her. His feelings had been with him all summer, not only with Belly but also with Jeremiah and Steven. His ex-girlfriend Nicole, too, suffered from his mysterious behavior. But all of that was because no one knew about Susannah. Conrad’s grief was still raging inside him, and no one could talk to him about it. But all that changes after debutante football.
Now as Belly knows it, Conrad feels comfortable being alone and talking about his feelings with her. He is ready to open up to her. When he admits everything, and Belly, he takes a step forward. Finally, they have their first refreshment, and summer is coming to an end. Looks like Belly made her wish, and she and Conrad are together now.
It is clear from the beginning of ‘The Summer I Turned Pretty’ that Belly will always choose Conrad. He is her first love and they have always shared a close relationship. Though she tries to forget him or tries to get away from him, she never lets her go completely. Even though he still has Cam, all she thinks about is going on dates and spending time with Conrad.
When Jeremiah confesses his feelings for her, she kisses him. Although she loves Jeremiah and is a good friend of ours, we cannot help but feel for her decision because of her contempt for Conrad. After almost kissing her, Conrad refuses to go public with his feelings for Belly. He keeps pushing her, which is very frustrating for Belly. She tells him that she will not wait for him near her, but her feelings for him influence her decisions.
For Jeremiah, it sounds like she jumped into a relationship right away to get Conrad out of her mind. But there is still something between them, which is clear when they play deb ball when they dance alone. Eventually, when all the misunderstandings have been cleared and everything has been said and done, Belly returns to her first love.
She loves Jeremiah, but there is more love for a close friend among them. She has never seen him that way, even when she decides to have him, she is not with all her heart. So, finally, when she kisses Conrad, it seems like it’s too late, but it’s also inevitable. “The Summer I Turned Pretty Season 1.”
