The Courtship Season 1 Episode 1: Recap
InThe Courtship Season 1 Episode 1 middle of the ball, it was time for the first day of the team. But the plot twist: the court selected six men. Then they went to the drawing-room, where Rémy teased Kim about sexually explicit comments. In the ballroom, Rémy’s parents reassured the remaining men that just because they were not elected on the first day of the party did not mean that they did not like them.
More dancing began when the heroine and six dancers returned to the ballroom. And then, it was time for Rémy to choose the first applicant to get one date. His choice: Mr. Bochicchio, a 31-year-old New York real estate agent.
They settled on the chaise in front of the glistening fountain outside the castle door. And chemistry? It sounded! Rémy and Bochicchio kissed each other for the first time under an explosive blanket. Talk about a fairy tale.
Rémy and Bochicchio are back in football when it was time to finish the first three players. During the “lip-syncing process in your life”, Rémy filled out his (literally) dance card with the names of six potential suitors. They get the last dance with the heroine to convince her to let them stay. Of those six, three will be repatriated.
Echavarria, Chandler Luxe, Kim, Peter Saffa, Ward, and Schanzer were in the decision area. While they were dancing, Rémy explained his reason for adding them to his dance card. What bothered him most were the lack of chemicals, questionable intentions, and a lack of emotional risk. He stressed how little time they have to build relationships in the system.
Remarkably, the court was hopeful that Luxe would remain. Luckily for them, he was able to convince Rémy to give him another chance. Kim also had to stay. Ward is the first person to be killed. A good, heartfelt request, from Echavarria, was not enough to keep him safe. Rémy cried when she told him that she did not feel attracted enough to keep him there, despite his pleasant personality.
Only Saffa and Schanzer remained. Saffa did not provide emotional loyalty when requesting to stay. Her lack of risk is significant. Plus, she’s one of the youngest in the team and it shows. Schanzer did the right thing by quoting Austen and giving Rémy a gift of a rose quartz necklace in a wooden jewelry box to “open up his love chakra.”
But Rémy did not allow himself to become overly concerned about doctor’s jokes. Her response to Rémy was difficult, but the kindly refusal was to challenge and defend herself. Not a good look. His attitude, not surprisingly, did not save him. Schanzer is sent home confused, but viewers are probably not.
