Star Trek: Strange New Worlds Season 1 Episode 2: Recap
Star Trek: Strange New Worlds Season 1 Episode 2 Title “Children of the Comet” Kirk is unable to work due to a strong reaction from the giant comet, and the process of successfully disconnecting the country party from Enterprise. As Enterprise attempts to traverse the comet, she is caught by a large race and starts calling herself Shepherds. The Shepherds warn Pike that any action taken by a comet and its trajectory will be considered a vicious disruption and will be met with final action, in which the presence of an incoming group is regarded by the herdsmen as blasphemous.
As Uhura begins to explain the scripts in the egg to find clues to control it, Spock realizes that the egg responds to music as Uhura digs in. Unbeknownst to Uhura, Enterprise finds Uhura humming and singing, realizing that he is withdrawing as they continue their disagreement with the Shepherds.
Using harmonics, Uhura gets a comet to lower his shields, allowing the seating team to be rescued by Enterprise. This was noticed by the shepherds, who responded angrily and pursued the Enterprise until Pike steered the ship near the comet, forcing the shepherds to stand on the ground.
Pike discusses how the shepherds peacefully helped them to redirect the comet to avoid any further war, which the shepherds sadly agree with. Driving a shuttlecraft, Spock conveys the comet’s course on the Persephone III line where it benefits the planet’s atmosphere and enhances its agricultural potential. As Pike thinks about Uhura’s analysis of the comet following the prophecy of the Shepherds, he looks at the workers he has to save at the expense of his life, thinking about his future and if it is inevitable in the way it looks.
