Sanditon Season 2 Episode 6, After finding Leonora in a military camp, Alexander and Colonel Lennox have a war of words over Lucy. The Colonel taunts Charlotte and insists that he may ruin her life as his late wife. This puts Alexander in a moral dilemma, as he feels unworthy to give Charlotte any love or happiness and fears that the past may repeat itself. So when she comes to her the next day, he pushes him away and says that he is just an employee.
Alexander also points out that the times they shared earlier were a mistake. After a broken Charlotte leaves work and leaves, Ms. Wheatley and Augusta beg her to bring her back by making her see how much she has changed her life and their lives.
Determined to tell her how he feels, Alexander rushes to Parker’s apartment but is unable to express himself properly. Charlotte misinterprets her words and thinks he only wants him to come back as the girls’ boss, feeling disrespected.
Disappointed Alexander leaves when Charlotte rejects his offer, leaving much to be said with sadness between them. Two months later, she completely relinquishes her love and surprisingly marries a marriage to Ralph Sterling, the man her father had originally chosen for her. At the same time, grieving Alexander wishes for a change of atmosphere and travels to London permanently with Augusta and Leonora. Although he and Charlotte are separated, it remains to be seen whether they will cross paths again.
