Suchi Purja and Nimes were married in the mid-2000s when they were very young. Nimes described his wife as a wonderful man who was mentally strong. A few years after their marriage, Nimes decided to leave the military to focus on mountaineering, which became his passion. However, this is not an easy decision. In fact, his brother was against him, instead, he worked until his pension came.
Nimes later said of that time, “I used to make bread for my family. I used to send money to my parents directly from my salary every month. Our father is semi-paralyzed, and our mother lives in a room near a medical facility in Kathmandu (Nepal).
It seemed crazy to me to give it all up now. ”In the film, Suchi Purja also talks about the dangerous nature of mountaineering Nims, but she always knew that she was very motivated to achieve her goals.
Suu Kyi also recalled how her husband trained when he had to apply to the British Special Forces. According to him, Nimes wakes up at 3 am every morning to run 20km and carry a 75 lb bag on his back.
