The ‘Billion Dollar Code’ is undoubtedly the most sensible approach to David vs. Goliath. It revolves around an artist named Carsten and a hacker and hacker named Juri, who are developing together a computer program that allows a user to fly to a specific location in space in real-time. However, they later found out that someone they trusted had used their algorithm in partnership with Google to create Google Earth. Yes, the ‘Billion Dollar Code’ is based on a real story, as a limited Tv series confirms its existence in the opening credits. In the documentary, Grüneis states that after the release of Google Earth, he and his colleagues were impressed that Google was able to make it work online, before adding that they too felt a little betrayed. He and others said they knew where the alleged leak was coming from. According to Schmidt, they met the man, who allegedly provided Google with information about the algorithm used at Terravision, Mountain View in Silicon Graphics in 1995.
“Billion Dollar Code,” Siberia says in the documentary that after leaving Silicon Graphics, the man played a key role in the construction of the Keyhole EarthViewer, which he said was funded by the CIA. Google finally got Keyhole. In 2014, Art + COM sued Google over a financial lawsuit, claiming that there were similarities between Terravision and Google Earth. As shown in the film, Art + COM has finally lost the case.
