iPadOS 15.3, iOS 15.3, Released
As a blog post, Apple is releasing iOS 15.3 and iPadOS 15.3 updates to compatible iPhone and iPad models. The update brings fixes to a critical bug that affected Safari and other browsers when browsing history was in danger of being compromised. The bug was discovered earlier this month and affected users on iOS, iPadOS, and macOS. With this bug, attackers can access recent users’ browsing history or identify a linked Google account.
MacOS users can avoid this situation by switching to a third-party browser but this is not the case for iOS and iPadOS users. With the macOS update and iOS and iPadOS, the vulnerability will no longer be used to steal browsing history and identity information for Safari users. The update should be accessible to all users automatically on the air, however, willing users can check the update by going to Settings> General> Software Update.
In contrast, a 9to5Mac report states that Apple is releasing iCloud updates for its compatibility with CloudKit issues that have been affecting third-party applications. Some engineers have indicated that Apple has fixed the problem but did not specify what the root cause of the problem was or what the cause was. However, Apple acknowledged that this problem has led to users receiving the message “Service not found” with error code 503.
The Cupertino-based giant admitted that an error usually occurred when the application was activated in application-throttling to a particular user, but the error disrupted the defense which resulted in a high number of errors. Apple is reportedly still reaching out to third-party app developers, saying that bug fixes are still possible. Apple will still publicly acknowledge a bug that has plagued third-party applications.
