Emergency: Synopsis
‘Emergency’ follow friends and roommates, Sean and Kunle, two very different African-American college students. Although Kunle is talented and academically lovable, Sean is clever and rude. The two are preparing for a historic party night before their final graduation. After completing Kunle’s research for his thesis, Kunle forgets to lock his template in the fridge.
Thus, germs are at risk of dying and undermine Kunle’s theory. Sean, on the other hand, is thrilled to visit seven different parties overnight with Kunle, making them the first black men on campus to make this “famous athlete.”
After many discussions, the two decided to set up Kunle’s lab before attending events. They arrive at their house only to find that their roommate Carlos has forgotten to lock the door. Fearing that they might be robbed, Kunle and Sean searched their belongings in the house. However, they found the young girl unconscious in their living room. At the time, Carlos had been playing video games, unaware of the girl’s presence. Finally, three boys gather near the unconscious girl to discuss what to do.
Kunle suggests he call 911 for help, but Sean immediately dismisses the idea as a photo of black men reporting on a white girl will lead to suspicious police. After some deliberation, Kunle agrees not to tell the authorities. The three decided to drive the girl to the hospital. At that moment, Maddie, a college student at a nearby party, realizes that her sister, Emma, is missing. Using the mobile app, Maddie and her friends Alice and Rafael searched for Emma, who was accompanied by Sean, Kunle, and Carlos.
After getting lost near a trio car, Maddie suspects her sister is in danger and notified 911. Meanwhile, the three accidentally found Emma getting more drunk, adding to their problems. With the police and Maddie on their way and a few options available, the three are contemplating the best solution that leads to a dispute between them. The way friends roam in a difficult and funny environment forms the rest of the building.
Emergency Ending, Explained: What Happened At The End?
As the night progresses, Emma begins to get drunk. However, when she finds herself with unknown men, Emma attacks them and runs away to the forest. Sean, Carlos, and Kunle found him unconscious in the woods when Maddie, Alice, and Rafael arrived. The situation escalates into chaos until Rafael reveals that he and Carlos are related.
After the two groups have calmed down, they notice that Emma is unconscious and her heart has stopped beating. Kunle and Carlos argue with Sean, who wants to leave Maddie and her sister depressed. Sean goes to a party while Kunle and Carlos take Emma to the hospital with Maddie, Alice, and Rafael.
Kunle is working hard to perform CPR on Emma in the hope of reviving the unconscious girl. However, police arrested the group and arrested Kunle and Carlos. After Emma was taken to the hospital, Maddie and Alice cleared up an argument, and Kunle and Carlos were released on a warning. However, the experience of the police pointing a gun at Kunle is heartbreaking for the young man. However, Kunle is concerned about Emma’s well-being and inquires about her condition. After the police assured her that Emma would survive, Kunle returned to his lab.
A few days later, Emma and Maddie came to Kunle’s house to thank him and Carlos for their help. The girls also apologize for causing the trouble. As Kunle accepts Emma’s apology, he closes the door for Maddie. Earlier, Maddie came to the conclusion and thought that Kunle was abusing her sister simply because of her racial background. Maddie’s behavior represents the general perception of black people and their association with crime. However, Kunle returns to his normal life but is still overwhelmed by his knowledge of the police and feels anxious about the sound of police sirens.
Kunle and Sean had been at loggerheads from the beginning about dealing with Emma. The two best friends are the opposite. Therefore, in an effort to counteract feelings of inadequacy, they neglected a number of factors that contribute to feelings of depression.
Eventually, the two men argued over their worldly ideas and went their separate ways. While it seems that Kunle’s decision to help Emma is the right decision, his traumatic experience with the police proves Sean was always right. Thus, a complex situation affects the real sense of urgency and stimulates reunion between friends.
Finally, Kunle and Carlos arrived at Kunle’s lab and found Sean lying in the refrigerator. After spending some time at a party, Sean decided to help his friend. So, he makes sure the refrigerator stays closed all night and that Kunle samples are safe. As Kunle checked to see if the germs were alive, he and Sean spoke from the heart. Friends turn out to be emotionally vulnerable and reunite with each other forgiving everything that is said at night. Finally, Kunle’s thesis is retained, and his entry into Princeton is secured.
In addition, Sean gives his permission to Kunle to move to New Jersey, and they both promise to continue to be a part of each other’s lives. The conversation ends with Kunle, Carlos, and Sean embracing. Eventually, Sean and Carlos stayed behind Kunle as they felt trapped by the police. The finale means that a difficult night has completely changed Kunle, but with the help of his friends, the remarkable young man will overcome the ongoing anxiety that comes from this incident.
