Are Sam and Lauren Still Together? Showtime’s ‘Couples Therapy’ is an addictive TV series featuring couples to psychologist Dr. Orna Guralnik for guidance. The program contains documentary-style episodes that track the progress of the couple as they talk about their problems and use the methods suggested by them to improve their troubled relationship.
Since the show aired in September 2019, it has seen many couples in three seasons work hard to repair their bond. One of them is Sam, formerly known as Sarah, and Lauren, a former royal couple who wished to save their 2-year marriage as they entered the program. Sam Hopwood and Lauren Guilbeaux met for the first time when they were 23 and 29 years old respectively. These are just beginning to change and have just separated from their first partner. After they had been dating for six months, Lauren underwent surgery on the upper and lower extremities, and Sam went with her. The couple went to Drs. Guralnik after the emergence of a few conflicts in their two-year marriage, especially regarding the decision to start a family. While Sam longed to have a baby, Lauren was still accustomed to her change.

Not only that, the couple wished to find a middle ground between their different sexual desires. Sam told Dr. Guralnik states that during the first period of their marriage, they were physically close once a month or more. However, this started to cause frustration and severely affected their relationship. So Sam and Lauren decided to open up their relationship, which allowed them to explore their own interests with other partners. While this approach helped relieve stress, it also created new problems, such as Sam wanting Lauren to start getting closer.
In addition, Sam felt insecure that Lauren might be interested in dating men, because of their open marriage. However, Lauren explained that her transfusion-related surgery had a few side effects that made sex more painful. She also revealed that she was ashamed of her physical limitations during sex. Finally, Drs. Guralnik helped the two of them navigate the stressful power of their marriage by guiding Lauren in controlling her defensive tendencies and Sam in the way of listening to their partner better.

As the couple began to understand their marriage better, they learned how to balance their individual needs while remembering how to make each other feel valued and appreciated. Towards the end of their session with Drs. Guralnik, Sam, and Lauren gradually reached an agreement on their future together and decided to continue working on their marriage.
Unfortunately, Sam and Lauren are no longer together. After completing ‘season 1 of Couples Therapy, they appeared in the episode‘ The Covid Special ’in December 2020, in which Sam expressed his frustration as their wedding photography business was due to close due to Covid-19. Plus, they came out as a non-binary person and now goes by the name Sam (formerly Sarah). Also, the couple decided to abandon the idea of having a baby, but it caused tension from time to time.

In June 2021, Lauren and Sam announced that they had filed for divorce and decided to go their separate ways. Having said that, each of them has stated that they will continue to support each other in everything and with nothing but mutual respect.
With beautiful captions, Lauren wrote, “I now find myself in a place where I am very grateful for the new journey, the great growth, and the fun we both had together. ”
Sam explained that they were very grateful for the seven years of being with Lauren and that although “the grief is still there,” they both look forward to this new phase of their lives. Since then, Sam has been busy with their works of art and photography, while she has moved to Los Angeles and is working on her acting career. They are constantly updating fans with information about their lives and are currently focusing on healing and achieving their goals in life.
